DEICR and EICR - Testing and Inspection;

Testing and Inspection has become an essential part of all electrical installations and is now considered essential for most homeowners and business owners. Government legislation coming into force in 2020 making it a requirement for all landlords to have a valid certificate for every change of tenancy. There are many ways to carry out inspection and testing and as a consequence, there are also many different prices, which in turn has led to some questionable practices. As with most things in life, if it’s cheap it’s usually for a reason, with some tests being carried out at a very basic level if at all.

We take great care in our testing and inspection and in the first instance the occupant’s health and safety is the priority, this and the need to ensure the installation is fit for purpose now and for the expected lifespan. We provide recommendations for improvements and notify you about areas of concern.

This is a report on the condition of your installation and the extent and scope of the inspection will be agreed with you, prior to a price being confirmed.

PAT Testing;

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require that any electrical equipment that has the potential to cause injury is maintained in a safe condition.

It is a requirement to ensure all appliances and leads supplied and used within your business/rented accommodation are safe to use. The law requires an employer/landlord to ensure that their electrical equipment is maintained in order to prevent danger. It does not say how this should be done or how often. Employers/Landlords should take a risk-based approach, considering the type of equipment and what it is being used for. If it is used regularly and moved a lot eg a floor cleaner or a kettle, testing (along with visual checks) can be an important part of an effective maintenance regime giving employers/landlords confidence that they are doing what is necessary to help them meet their legal duties.
